What it’s good at

Cavern Traversal

The Rock Drake is an extremely mobile mount, and where the terrain compliments its abilities, it can even outspeed most fliers. While it will not regenerate stamina when not touching the ground, it is able to climb walls vertically and even upside down, like the . The dash allows them to reach high speeds, and their glide allows for lengthier gaps between walls to be crossed, as well as steep downwards descents (such as the drop down to the Grave of the Lost and Rockwell…

Surface Explorer

Rock Drakes are one of the only creatures that are able to exit the cave systems of Aberration and reach the Surface without building structures to assist. As with the caverns below, the ability to dash and glide allows them to remain elevated above the majority of the dangerous wildlife. Care should be taken, however, to not be hit by the projectiles the s fire from their tail- these will break the Rock Drake from a glide and see them fall to the ground if hit when climbing.…

Aquatic Transit

The Rock Drake makes for a decent aquatic amount, particularly of the non-aquatic creatures. Its swimming speed is comparable to a , but has a higher turning radius, and being able to launch directly into aerial movement can allow it to escape situations that other water mounts may struggle to. The most serious threats are the and , which stun the Drake and dismount its rider. Camouflage is ideal to prevent them spotting the Rock Drake, as long as they are not passed directly…

Resource Transport

While they do not posses any weight reductions, or notably high weight in general, Rock Drakes can be useful for transporting small amounts of resources quickly. Unlike fliers on other maps, they cannot carry harvesting creatures directly to the resource location, meaning tames either need to be left nearby or moved with the aid of Cryopods.

Genesis 1 Mount

Similarly to how Aberration does not allow fliers to be obtained or transferred to the map, the Genesis simulation dos not allow them to be ridden. The Rock Drake therefore is an excellent mount of choice. Many of the regions, particularly Bog, it can traverse faster than fliers even disregarding the limitations, due to having similarly dense and vertical terrain to its home map of Aberration. There is no region the Rock Drake struggles in, with high swim speed making it useful…

Egg Thief

Due to their naturally high mobility and stealth, Rock Drakes are incredibly well suited to egg thieving. They are able to easily navigate the cliffs and alcoves that eggs tend to be laid within without detection, and then make a speedy escape after an egg has been grabbed.

Scout/Ambush Attacker

Rock Drakes make for a stealthy mount to spy on other tribes and scout areas in secrecy. Its camouflage is a crucial ability, able to turn itself, its rider and its saddle invisible. While the Drake is still faintly visible from a shimmering outline, visibility is still highly reduced. This allows it to cling to a surface and lie in wait for an enemy player to pass by before attacking unexpectedly, which can be supplemented by the or rider weaponary, to weaken the target…

Reaper-Seeker

Rock Drakes can detect nearby s that aren't within its tribe. The crown of feathers on their head flares, and they rotate their head left and right. While not the strongest option- albeit the most well adapted- a Drake levelled enough in and can also kill Queens, aided by their knockback resistance and incredibly high torpor drain to deal with the tailspin and venomous spines, respectively. As a result, they can be valuable to obtain s from Queens, and the embryo to raise a tame…

Nameless Hunter

While not the fastest option for killing Nameless, Rock Drakes have the speed to bring it back to base within minutes, making them great to keep baby Drakes fed. The Venom is not useful only for babies, however- they are still a good source of food for adults, and can be forcefed to heal Drakes for 100 health, with a handful of Venoms therefore being able to bolster a Drake in a sticky situation.

Taming Aid

Rock Drakes have high amounts of health, which allows them to tank creatures that its rider wishes to tame. The ability to use rider weaponry means that the creature can be tranquilised while it is standing still attacking the Drake, and the choice for a second rider to use weapons on the Drake can make the KO faster. Care should be taken with a passenger seat rider, however, as they can be damaged while on the saddle (including by the creature that is being tamed). Since the Rock…
